Review Intro
A wet and windy win for Doddinghurst
Review Body
The two unbeaten sides in Division 1 played each other on a very wet and windy morning. Doddinghurst got off to a flying start with Alfie Cerulli netting twice to give Doddinghurst an early lead. Tom Richards and Max Citroen were solid in defence for Doddinghurst and the wing play of Oscar Pace caused Galleywood a lot of problems. Doddinghurst were denied further goals in the first half with the Galleywood keeper making some excellent saves from Alfie Baldry and Alfie Cerulli. The second half saw Galleywood come close twice before Alfie Cerulli shrugged off the centre half and coolly finished to complete his hat-trick. With the game looking won, Doddinghurst contrived to let Galleywood back in the game firstly by conceding an albeit harsh penalty and then failing to clear a soft free-kick on the edge of the area. Doddinghurst finally put the game beyond reach when Frankie Day popped up on the edge of the box and rifled in a shot to secure the 3 points. Ten out of ten to both teams who put on a scintillating display of football in the face of atrocious conditions and ten out of ten to the parents of both teams who encouraged and persevered through to the end.
Players: Alfie Baldry, Alfie Cerulli, Kai Chalkley, Max Citroen, Frankie Day, Kai Gilbrook, Oscar Pace, Ed Peace, Tom Richards.
