DOFC Under 7's stop Chelmsford City's unbeaten run.
Doddinghurst pinned the visitors in their half for most of the first half and peppered the Chelmsford goal with shot after shot with some fine goalkeeping, Tommy Lambourne was unlucky to hit the side netting more than once. Doddinghusts hard work was rewarded with a penalty after a Chelmsford player picked the ball up on the goal line when Oliver Moore was about to follow up a shot. Tommy struck a superb left footed penalty, 1- 0. There were periods of good play from both teams and some great tackles by both defences. Doddinghurst's goalie for the first half, Owen Sharpling, made an attempt to save a good shot in the bottom corner but was unlucky when he was unable to push it round the post. 1 - 1 at half time.
George Andrade took over the goalkeeping duties in the second half for Doddinghurst and the two defenders Scott Allison and Danny Redfern continued their defending partnership stopping all of the attacks by Chelmsford. Doddinghurst continued to dominate the second half and Max Warren and Charlie Read contributed well to the attacks.
Tommy scored his second goal after some great passing down the right hand side which let him through on goal. With minutes to go a Doddinghurst clearance hit a Chelmsford played on the nose and play was stopped as Doddinghurst were about to attack, after the player received medical treatment the ball was sportingly passed back to a Doddinghurst defender who was immediately bombarded by Chelmsford players and the equaliser was scored. A good game played in good spirits, the concept of passing the ball back to the other team needs to be taught to both teams.
Joint man of the match - Danny and Scott for great covering and defending.
