Chelmsford started the match quickly and took the lead with a good header from a well placed cross, Doddinghurst's Alfie Cerulli forced a couple of efforts, but it was Chelmsford who doubled their lead with a good finish from the edge of the box. In defence Max Citroen kept Chelmsford at bay with some solid defending, in midfield Oscar Pace and Kai Gilbrook tried to push forward and attack but Chelmsford scored again to lead 3 nil. Doddinghurst pulled one back before half time with the determination of Alfie Baldry and Alfie Cerulli scoring a hard working goal. Doddinghurst made a few changes at half time and started the 2nd half much better with William Stroud and Frankie Day combining well to force a corner from which Tom Richards forced home after a goal mouth scramble. Doddinghurst pushed forward searching for the equalizer with Kai Chalkley in defnce and Ed Peace in goal stopping all Chelmsford's attacks, but Chelmsford increased their lead to 4 - 2 with a counter attack and a unlucky own goal, Doddinghurst's determination and spirit kept them going, and once again pulled a goal back through a Chelmsford own goal. In the dying minutes of the match Doddinghurst committed every player forward for a corner, including the goal keeper, searching for the equalizer but Chelmsford's keeper pulled off a great save and Chelmsford broke forward and scored with the last kick of the game to win 5 - 3. All players involved gave a tremendous effort in truly difficult weather conditions.
